Maana Wash Handbasin

Minimalist combined faucet and wash handbasin (sink) in cast concrete.
I've tried to design an innovative and unconventional product which challenges the need for a basin. Water is an integral part of both the structure and the aesthetics. I've attempted to make the water a continuation of the shape of the product. Maana is inspired by water as an element, and how it behaves in nature.
There's a small river just a couple of minutes from my home, with a waterfall called fåbrofossen. Crossing the bridge over this waterfall, and walking along the banks of the river gives me a really special feeling. Hearing, smelling and feeling nature - being part of it! I wanted to try and bring a tiny bit of this feeling inside - into urban places. I hope that Maana makes the user feel a bit like they're washing themselves from the banks of a stream.
The sink is fixed to two through-wall brackets which also carry the water to and from the unit. The waste dissapears through a thin slot in the concrete sink, and into the waste pipe underneath.
Cast concrete in sink part and stainless steel in waterfall faucet part.
